FEAR
by Gwilda Wiyaka

As our awareness continues to evolve, we tend to re- think things that we simply accepted before. One thing that seems to be up in mass this month is fear and how it is used by the system to keep us at a lower frequency and dancing to its tune.

The system we now live in is so deeply fear based that most of us don’t even recognize it as fear. Yet many of our accepted seemingly “responsible” actions are totally fear based. An example is “preventative medicine”. We just assume we will get sick and endure all sorts of indignities to find where illness is creeping into our bodies. Not that medicine is a problem in and of itself.

Immunizing our children is just what a responsible parent does? Well pardon me, but show me an illness that is more of a risk to my child than the immunization itself, and then I will consider it.

How about becoming so in tune with your body that you know when something needs attention? How about becoming so high frequency that we are less physically dense and can transmute it ourselves? This is becoming more possible than one may think.

The insurance industry, for instance, is totally fear driven. We are literally betting against ourselves not getting in an accident. How about listening to our promptings and intuitions and finding safe passage?

The media is another great example. I am so humored on the rare occasion I watch the news, and the weather person is speaking of dire weather conditions while showing footage of cars on I 25 putting up cock tails as they go through standing water. Like we have never had to drive through a puddle before, or can’t see for ourselves it is raining and slow down.

It seems like so much of our energy, attention and resources are spent looking to the future for danger and trying to shore ourselves up against it, that we are never in the present enough to dodge it if danger does happen to arrive. Nor are we present to enjoy and receive the natural provisions coming our way.

Replacing fear with faith and trust puts us in the flow of life where we can just sit back, fully knowing we will manifest and be provided what we need, and enjoying the adventure of watching how it will come in.

The ability to do this comes from processing and evolving so we are coming from an empowered place, standing in our true expression, and moving through true promptings rather than operating out of fear, patterns and defense mechanisms.

However, (and this is a big however) to try and take this stance before we are adequately processed, is setting ourselves up to be coming from denial and manifesting our fears. While it is good to see where we can get to and set ourselves about the task of getting there, it may be best to keep our insurance policies and medical check ups up to date for now.

In loving friendship,

Gwilda Wiyaka

A Student Writes about Finding and Joining Path Home Shamanic Arts School:

THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES
by Ana Palles Yelen

Some may say that there are no coincidences. Certainly I was not due to be available that Thursday evening in the spring of 2005, but whether it was a wild mix of serendipity, angelic intervention, or just plain dumb luck, attending that talk on Manifestation at Path Home Shamanic Arts School (soon to be Path Home Shamanic Arts School) was a case of being at the right place at the right time.

So much of that talk resonated with what I had just been starting to understand about the workings of nature, life, and energy. It made me stop and think that perhaps I needed to look further into this fledgling school.

I began to tentatively explore the course offerings to see for myself whether my excitement during that lecture was based on real or imagined strengths of the program.

I was surprised, not only at the content of the classes, and the methodical, credible approach in which the class material was structured and presented, but at the caliber of the students in attendance.  These folks came from many walks of life, all ages, cultural backgrounds, were well educated and were there for serious work.

It was after the Sacred Space class that I decided I wanted to enroll as a student for the 2005 session.  More than any other class I had taken up to that point, Sacred Space was a clear pathway to understanding the importance of leading a life of intent, purpose and most of all, gratitude.

We so often take for granted the beauty and the gifts around us, and we so often forget the importance of how it feels to prepare a sacred space for ourselves and our families.

It reminds me of how one goes about preparing a room for a loved guest.  The care with which we put fresh sheets on the bed, smoothing them down and breathing in that clean cotton smell that only sheets can give off.  Setting thoughtful items on the nightstand to see to the comforts of our guest and to express how much we care.

These are not new concepts and much has been written about the importance of expressing gratitude.  Yet it takes on a new dimension when we begin to see and feel the various levels of body, mind and spirit that co-mingle in our every day actions.

Learning how to live with intent, work with energy, with nature, with one another, is indeed very powerful.  However, it would not have substance to support it if it weren’t for the fact that the Path Home/Path Home staff really do practice what they preach in day to day life.  The evidence of this was never clearer than during the Wilderness program.

It was there that the learnings of the first year came together as a lifestyle.  Leading a conscious life, in harmony with others and nature, and always mindful of the respect that we owed nature and her creatures.  Viewing the clean water, the fragrant sage, the healing yarrow and the drifts of songbird melodies as gifts to be welcomed, honored and thanked.

As the first year gives way to second year courses, I look ahead in anticipation for the growth and discoveries that await us.

Ana Palles Yelen is a very gifted second year student in Path Home's Shamanic Arts School Practitioner Program.  Ana has a Master's degree in Management from Regis University.

Path Home BECOMES "PATH HOME"

As some of you may have noticed, we’ve been working with the name of the business as what we do here evolves. We had some trouble registering Path Home with the federal government and took it as a lovely opportunity to rethink the whole thing. After many tongue twisting brainstorms and misfit title ideas, Gwilda had a light bulb moment while driving in to work. So with no further ado we are happy to announce our new and much anticipated name - PATH HOME !!!

Over the next month we’ll be working like crazy changing logos, webpages, brochures, bank accounts, etc. By October 1st we plan to start using Path Home in daily transactions.

NEW SCHOOL YEAR / NEW CLASSES:

Path Home’s new school year is beginning soon! This means that our beginning journey workshops are fast approaching and a whole set of brand new classes are on the way. Lower World Journey and Power Animals and Helping Spirits are at the end of this month, and Upper World Journey and Sacred Space are in mid-November. All four of these classes will give you the tools you need not only to delve deeper into your personal healing but also to live your life in a conscious way.

Be sure to consider Manifestation Samhain at the end of October. This powerful class covers techniques to help break up energies that cause disruption and misfortune and create clear space in which to manifest for the following year.

Life Purpose in mid-November is a great addition to the beginning four workshops. In this class we will address the age old question “What is the purpose to my life?” and learn to journey for ourselves and others to get signs, symbols and guidance to help us live purposeful lives.

See the Workshop descriptions and calendar below or visit for more info: http://findyourpathhome.com/ws_reg.html

Personalized, shamanically "worked" ceremonial tools are a necessity for any powerful reliable shamanic practice. In this two-day class we will build the two most important "tools of the trade", a drum and a rattle.

The drum will be a Native American style, hand held hoop drum. We will be using elk rawhide for the drum head and maple drum hoops. Drum beaters will also be built using deer skin and bamboo. If you desire, Gwilda will shamanically attune your drum to your personal birth cord.

The rattle head will be made of elk raw hide. Various furs and leathers will be available for decoration. There will also be an assortment of traditional objects to put inside and give your rattle its voice. We will cover in depth shamanic "working" of sacred tools, a skill that then can be applied to any other tools you care to create in the future.

All tools needed, will be provided. There will be a materials fee which covers both the drum and rattle.

NEW!!!!! MANIFESTATION: SAMHAIN

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $275.00
When: Saturday, October 28, 2006, 10:00am-5:30pm AND Sunday, October 29, 10:00am-9pm
Prerequisites: Lower World Shamanic Journey or Upper World Shamanic Journey

True manifestation begins with destruction. This program is a seasonal gathering based upon the Celtic holiday Samhain. Traditionally, during this time, shamanic practitioners gather together to break up energies that cause disruption and misfortune and create clear space in which to manifest for the following year. This is an ancient responsibility to their tribe, embraced in some form by shaman of all cultures.

During our time together, the hidden principles of, and energy behind manifestation will be covered in depth.

The evening of the last day of the program we will perform an ancient ritual (generously brought to us by Tom Cowan's teachings) "The Battle of the Evil Fomorians". All Path Home students and graduates will be invited to join us in this ancient ceremony for and in responsibility to our people.

ADVANCED SOUL RETRIEVAL

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $560.00 (includes room and board)
When: November 10 at 4:00pm through November 13 at 1:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World and Upper World Shamanic Journey, Power Animals and Helping Spirits, Sacred Space
and Beginning Soul Retreival

This 3-day intensive program is designed to teach the advanced skills needed to perform complex soul retrieval healings to be used in the treatment of the spiritual illness known as soul loss. Methods of dealing with soul stealing and essence exchange will be covered as well as "energy upgrades", trans-temporal healings and past life soul retrievals.

NEW!!!! LIFE PURPOSE

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Friday, November 17, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World Shamanic Journey or Upper World Shamanic Journey

The age old question “What is the purpose of my life?” will be addressed during this one day program. While each of us came wired for one or more purposes, we often feel frustrated in trying to find and fulfill the same.

We will learn to journey for ourselves and others to get signs, symbols and guidance to help us live purposeful lives. Time will be spent on the interpretation of these ever evolving concepts that are threads running though our lives.

We will also reframe the way we look at purpose and open to a new way of viewing our time on the earth and our relationship to it and all our relations.

UPPER WORLD SHAMANIC JOURNEY

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Saturday, November 18, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: None

In this experiential workshop you will learn the ancient method of entering the shamanic journey trance. Each participant will locate a Spirit Teacher and be instructed on the journey to upper world.

SACRED SPACE

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Sunday, November 19, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World or Upper World Shamanic Journey

Safe and enfolding containment is a necessity if we are to be able to open up to our creativity, bonding, intuition, and healing.

In this class we will explore our personal connection with spirit. We will discover our own ceremonies and rituals to create sacred space in our homes and work places.

Sacred space creates the optimum environment for shamanic healing work to take place for the client as well as the practitioner

SPIRITUAL COACHING

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Saturday, January 13, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World or Upper World Shamanic Journey, Beginning Soul Retrieval, and Pattern Tracing

Our culture has been so long without shamanic healing that most clients haven’t a clue what ails them or how to make sense of soul retrieval once they have had one.  Furthermore, they often are so identified with the defense mechanisms developed to compensate for soul loss that a form of identity crisis may follow the healing.

This class is designed to teach the skills of stewarding clients through this sometimes challenging time.

RHYTHM & MOVEMENT

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Sunday, January 14, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: None

The drum is the best friend of the shamanic practitioner. Drumming grounds us, takes us on our journeys, focuses healings and integrates spiritual work into our bodies. The trick is...playing it and walking at the same time!

This class is designed with that very dilemma in mind. The side benefits are an unexpected left brain – right brain integration and a stretching of what we think is possible for us rhythm-wise.

NEW!!!! HEALING WITH THE DRUM

Instructor: Gwilda Wiyaka
Cost: $150.00
When: Monday, January 15, 10:00am - 5:30pm
Prerequisites: Lower World or Upper World Shamanic Journey, Rhythm & Movement

Drums and rattles are powerful tools that can be used to build and channel power to effect changes in our physical world.

In this unique class we learn to use the drum and rattle to ground and center ourselves and others.  We will also cover the breaking up of old obsolete patterns, and releasing emotions.  We will discover that the drum can set the stage for new awareness, in order to rebalance us into a new state of being.

We will also cover how drumming circles can be used to unite people to one purpose and facilitate agreement in the workplace and other aspects of our daily lives.

BEGINNING SOUL RETRIEVAL

Cost: $560.00 (includes room and board)

This 3-day intensive, residential program is designed to teach the skills needed to perform soul retrieval healings as well as power animal retrieval to be used in the treatment of the spiritual illnesses known as soul loss and loss of power respectively.
